You Were There

You were there
When I didn’t know where to turn
And I knew I had a lot learn
You were there
When I couldn’t figure out why
And felt I could cry
You were there
When I lost the fight
And nothing seemed quite right
You were there
When I was depressed
And needed rest
You were there
When I let you down
And you always stuck around
You were there
When I thought no one cared
And visually impaired
You were there
When I needed you most
And you weren’t just a ghost
You were there

Above is a poem I wrote and I thought I would share it with you. I hope it will bring you as much comfort as it has to me. Whenever I feel like I can’t make it or that I’m at the end of my rope, I take a look at this. To remind myself no matter what struggle I’m going through God is there for me. He has never left nor forsaken me, I am never alone in Him.

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” -Deuteronomy 31:8

“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” -Psalm 9:10

  1. That’s a nice but yet a little bit sad poem. Just found your blog and will dig in to it. // Janna

  2. This would make an amazing song. If you were credited, would you be ok with letting us use it?

    Edited to this:
You were there When I didn’t know where to turn
You were there when I knew I had a lot learn
You were there When I couldn’t figure out why
You were there when all I could do is cry
    out to you

You where there When I lost the fight
You were there when nothing seemed quite right
You were there When I was down and depressed
You were there when I badly needed rest
    In you

You were there When I let you down
Never leaving, You always stuck around
You were there When I thought no one cared
And my actions appeared so visually impaired
    to you

  3. Miss,
Please pardon my uninvited intrusion into your busy life. I only wish to take a moment of your time to tell you that your writing and the heart it comes from has captured me. Poetry in particular encompasses a corner of my heart like no other literary form. Indeed through poetic verse it is possible to glean if only a glimpse into a writers heart. As another disciple of Christ, I find it refreshing and rare that a modern woman in times such as these proclaims her beliefs so eloquently and unashamed. Thank you for your obedience and unwavering faith. If I may, I would like to continue to visit your site on ocassion and perhaps we could talk more if you feel comfortable with that. Nonetheless, it was a pleasure to make your aquaintance.

    Respectfully,
    Dean in Florida
